ResearchIT CT's downloadable eAudio & eBook service.  Fiction and nonfiction audio and ebooks you can download to your computer, or access on most Android and iDevices with the appropriate app.

Checkouts, Renewals & Holds:                              
You can check out 2 audiobooks and 2 ebooks at a time for up to 14 days each. You can renew items for an additional 7 days.  You can return items at any time. For each format, you can place 4 holds at a time. Once you are notified that a hold is available, you have 48 hours in which to check it out.

Note:  To use OneClickdigital you must have a valid Connecticut public library card number.


    Freading   This is a library resource.  A valid Newington Library card number is required for access. 

Thousands of ebooks. No waiting! This newly improved service allows up to 3 book checkouts per week.

Freading is an ebook service where Newington library cardholders can download ebooks for free. Freading holds thousands of ebooks and is always adding more to the collection, such as the recent addition of travel books published by Lonely Planet. This is a unique ebook service that differs from others in that ebooks are available to users simultaneously, without waiting in line.

OverDrive Downloadable Books

Download audiobooks, ebooks, and videos to your computer or a variety of portable devices including eReaders, MP3 players, iPods, iPads and smartphones. This collection for adults, teens and children includes over 5,500 popular fiction and nonfiction ebooks, over 2,100 audiobooks, 50 magazines, and over 150 videos. To place holds and checkout items, you must have a valid public library card number from a participating library.

Additional titles are available exclusively to Newington residents through OverDrive.  Extra copies of very popular titles have been purchased for exclusive use by Newington residents.  To access these extra copies in the downloadable catalog, log in with your Newington library card number before searching for the titles.

Music and More
    Hoopla   This is a library resource.  A valid Newington Library card number is required for access. 

Attention iOS users:

With the recent release of iOS software version 10.3, previously downloaded hoopla content may no longer play.  If you find your content is not playing, don't worry, the fix is easy. Simply delete your downloaded files and re-download. This will not affect your allowed borrows for the month.

 Access thousands of movies, television shows, music albums, audiobooks, eBooks and comics, all available for mobile and online access through Hoopla Digital!  All you need is a Newington Public Library card!

Visit from your PC or download the free hoopla digital mobile app to your Android or IOS device and begin enjoying thousands of titles from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers.  Within the app you can set your device to the Kids Mode for children. All titles are available to borrow for instant streaming on your computer or temporary downloading to smartphones and tablets.  There is no waiting to borrow titles, and there are no late fees!  Newington patrons may borrow up to 8 titles per month. "Zinio for Libraries Value Collection" is our newly improved online magazine service that allows you to view full digital copies of more than 60 of your favorite magazines! You see the exact same material you get in print‚ plus some issues include features like video, audio and live links. Magazine issues are available at any time. Read online or download issues to your computer or even use an app to read on a mobile device. In order to take advantage of this collection, you must have a current Newington Public Library card in good standing, an email address, and an internet-based device.

Freegal is a downloadable music service at the Newington Library. All you need is your Newington Library card number. You can download up to five songs per week from the vast Sony music collection using Freegal Music. Freegal offers access to about 7 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 80 countries.
