Voting for Nutmeg Children’s Book Award Children in grades 2-12 are invited to cast their ballots for the 2018 Nutmeg Book Award, Elementary, Intermediate, Teen and High School levels, from April 2 - 28. Namaste everyone! That means peace. Children ages 4-8 and their caregivers are invited to come to the Library in comfortable pajamas to have fun doing Yoga together. Children who will be starting kindergarten for the 2018 – 2019 school year, and a caregiver are invited to listen to stories and participate in lots of hands-on activities that will help children to develop the skills needed for a successful start in school. In celebration of Earth Day we will be showing the movie Fern Gully – The Last Rainforest. The magical inhabitants of a rainforest fight to save their home, which is threatened by logging and a polluting force of destruction called Hexxus. Desserts Ever After: Dessert with the characters from Willy Wonka Sunday April 22, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
The Friends of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library and Newington Children’s Theatre Company are co-sponsoring a fundraiser on Sunday, April 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the library. Children and adults are invited to meet and take pictures with the cast of NCTC’s Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. Guests will also enjoy fun activities, play games, and have ice cream for dessert. Tickets for adults and children are $5.00 per person and are available to purchase at the Adult Information Desk.
