As the weather gets warmer and residents begin their spring cleanup the Highway and Sanitation departments would like to remind residents leaves or grass are not allowed in the trash or recycling containers per DEEP regulations. Containers found to have grass, leaves or any other unacceptable items in them will be tagged and not emptied. Grass and leaves may be composted or brought to the Town's Landfill/Transfer Station (proof of residency required) during operating hours currently Saturdays only 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning April 3rd hours will return to Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are also asked not to rake leaves and sticks to the curb as they will not be picked up. The town’s leaf collection program is only done in the fall. Vegetation such as sticks, brush and branches can be brought to the Town Landfill/Transfer Station (permit required) during normal operating hours. Landfill permits may be obtained at the Highway Garage (281 Milk Lane) or the Town Clerk’s office (Town Hall, 200 Garfield St.).
