This is a Reminder: No tax bill is sent for the 2nd installment for the January Real Estate and/or Personal Property tax. The 2nd installment was included with your tax bill this past July.
If you have misplaced your bill, call the Tax Office for assistance (860) 665-8540. Payments may be made any time until February 1st which is the last day to pay. Interest will be charged on February 2nd without exception.
Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bills will be mailed at the end of December and are only for cars purchased or registered after October 1, 2020 and covers through September 2021.
Taxes may be viewed and/or paid online at www.newingtonct.gov. Debit and Credit card payments can only be made online, and a fee is charged by the third party. Payments made online are received the following day for processing. The Tax Office is open for payments Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Parking is available in the new parking lot near the Community Center. The Town Hall entrance is at the far end. Also, there is a tax payment drop box across from the main entrance to the Town Hall for your convenience.
All motor vehicle taxes must be paid if a motor vehicle clearance is needed, payment must be made by bank check (not personal), money order, or cash at the Tax Office. The Motor Vehicle Dept. will be notified within 24 hours to release the hold which is done electronically. Payments may also be placed in the silver drop box located in the parking lot near the Town Hall entrance.
Any questions regarding your car’s value or if you no longer have the vehicle, contact the Assessor’s Office at (860) 665-8530. Address changes should be made with the CT Motor Vehicle Dept. on the registration of each car. For other questions contact the Tax Office at (860) 665-8540.
