[ARCHIVED] JULY TAXES WILL BE MAILED AT THE END OF JUNE

July Tax Bills 2021

Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle tax bills for the 2021 Grand List are mailed at the end of June.  Real Estate and Motor Vehicle bills may arrive in the same envelope. Tax bills are dated July 1st and the last day to pay is August 1st.  On August 2nd, 3% interest is due, and will be charged according to CT State Statute Sec. 12-146. All back taxes require payment first (CT State Statute Sec. 12-144b).

The Tax Office is open to the public and accepts payment by check, money order, and cash. Other options are to pay by mail, drop your payment (including tax bill) into the silver box in the parking lot island near the Town Hall entrance, or pay online (for a fee) www.newingtonct.gov.  No debit or credit cards are accepted in the Tax Office or by telephone.

If a Motor Vehicle release is needed,  DO NOT pay online. Contact the Tax Office for more information 860 665-8540. If you received a tax bill for a vehicle you no longer own and have questions, contact the Assessor’s Office at 860 665-8530 or assessor@newingtonct.gov.  Send your cancelled plate receipts to the Assessor’s Office.

When paying at the Tax Office, bring the entire tax bill (full page) to receive a receipt. If you are mailing your payment and would like a receipt, include your entire bill with a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Taxpayers are responsible to make sure their taxes are paid when due.  Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax, interest or fees.
