The Sanitation Department would like to remind residents of the guidelines for curbside bulk collection.  In order to have bulky or oversized items picked up curbside residents must contact Trash Away at (860)-229-1164 to make arrangements for a pick up. We ask that residents do not place items out at the curb prior to scheduling a collection.

The current fee for the collection is $25 per stop for up to two items. Items such as mattresses, box springs and tires may also be picked up for an additional charge.  Please visit the Town's website for more information on acceptable items along with the fees.

Payments are required at the time of scheduling and may be made by phone with a credit card or paid by check or cash at Trash Away, 21 Christian Lane, New Britain, CT 06051.

Items such as mattresses, boxsprings and televisions may also be brought to the Town's Transfer Station located at 2045 Main St. during operating hours to be recycled at no cost.

The deadline for scheduling the Thursday bulky waste collection is Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Residents are reminded there is a maximum of 165 stops per week therefore scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis.

Scrap metal items are collected on Tuesdays and the deadline for scheduling is 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The current fee for scrap metal collection is $12.00 for the first item and $5.00 for each additional item.  Scrap metal may also be brought to the Town’s Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no cost.
