The Town Clerk’s Office has the grand list sorted alphabetically by property address. If you know the exact street address, you can locate the volume and page reference in the land records and obtain a copy of the deed to the property.
If you are unsure of the location, we suggest you visit the Assessor’s Office and obtain a copy of the field card. This will also have the volume/page reference, which we will guide you in locating when you visit our office located at:

Town Clerk
The Town Clerk’s Office maintains a computer index from 1976 forward. There is a public access computer which the staff will assist you in using, or you may search the land record index remotely. Records on this system are filed by name (not property location) - this information is quite easy to locate. Visit our office located at:

Town Clerk
Dog licenses cost $8 for spayed or neutered and $19 if they are not spayed or neutered. Proof of a current rabies vaccination and proof of spaying or neutering is required at the time of licensing. Regardless of when the license is purchased, it expires on June 30 each year. Once your pet is in our computer system, a reminder postcard is sent out annually.

The Newington Town Clerk’s office can issue certified copies of birth certificates if:
- The person was born in Newington.
- The mother resided in Newington at the time of the birth.
- NOTE: Birth certificates for children born after 2002 can be accessed through any town in the State of Connecticut.
Birth records are not open for public inspection in accordance with section 7-51 of the Connecticut General Statutes. You may request a copy of your own birth certificate, your child’s, your spouse and your parents. Grandparents can also request a copy for their grandchildren.
Certified copies are available in 2 sizes:
- The full size is 8.5 inches by 11 inches and is a full copy of the document.
- The wallet size shows the birth name and date only.
Both are acceptable legal documents with the raised seal.

The Newington Registrar of Voters will accept your voter registration application. If the Registrars are not available, the Town Clerk’s Office is happy to accept as supply this paperwork to the Registrars.
