Membership
As a member of the Senior and Disabled Center, you are invited to participate in all of our programs, services, and activities. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to become healthier, physically and mentally more active, and happier!
What's Included
- Special programs, presentations, classes, games, and socials on a variety of interesting topics: 8-10 special programs are presented monthly
- Regularly scheduled programs include various exercise classes and pickleball. craft groups, bingo, setback, movies, tech help
- Daily drop-in activities include an exercise room, billiards, woodshop, computer lab, TV, and puzzle lounge
- Volunteer Gift Shop and Coffee Shop
- Nutrition programs - daily congregate lunch and Meals on Wheels ($3.00 voluntary donation requested per meal)
- Social work and benefits eligibility services (membership not required - Newington residents only)
- Dial A Ride (in-town ride service) and out-of-town medical transportation service (Newington residents only - $8.40 pass for 24 rides, by appointment)
- Giving Garden
- AARP tax prep and driver's education courses
- Numerous volunteer opportunities
- Bus trips to shows and area attractions (additional fee)
- Miscellaneous services including paper shredding, office assistance, blood pressure clinics, dental screenings, and foot care (see newsletter for schedules)
Eligibility
Membership is open to adults aged 55 and older and adults aged 18 and older with disabilities.
Fees
The Town of Newington funds the Senior and Disabled Center. Membership fees are used to enhance our programs, activities and facility and are spent at the discretion of the Commission on Aging and Disability. For the membership year 2024-25, regular membership fees are waived. Donations are greatly appreciated.

How to Join
Our membership year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Complete a Membership Application (PDF). Return the application with your fee. You will be given a key tag that you will use to sign in for all programs and services.
