Dimensions of Well-Being


The mission of the Newington Senior and Disabled Center is
to improve the well-being of older adults and adults with disabilities in the Town of Newington.

Well-being is defined broadly and is unique to each person. We identify eight inter-related dimensions to frame our efforts to support improvement and to measure our impact.

Physical

Meeting the need for physical activity, healthy foods and sleep, preventing injury and disease, accessing treatment for acute illness and managing chronic disease.

Social

Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system

Environmental

Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being

Financial

Satisfaction with current and future financial situations

Spiritual

Expanding our sense of purpose and meaning in life

Personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work

Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships

Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills
