The Friends of the LRW Library Scholarship is aimed at students passionate about library volunteering and community service. The Friends of the LRW Library will award two $500 scholarships to be used for further education.

 Purpose:  

The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the teen volunteers at the Lucy Robbins Welles Library. Their volunteerism helps to promote civic responsibility, to enhance services provided within Newington, and to maintain awareness of the Library and its services to the community. 

 Criteria:  

The Friends of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library scholarship has the following criteria:

  • A high school senior living in Newington or attending Newington schools.
  • Library volunteerism (minimum 10 hours for 2024 award)
  • An active LRW Library card and personal use of the library
  • Funds must be used to further education
  • A specific application and essay need to be completed for consideration
