In addition to publicly provided facilities, Newington is home to a number of private recreational amenities.

Indian Hill Country Club  is a challenging and wonderfully maintained 18 hole golf course that is owned by the Town but managed by the club.  Residents are allowed a number of discounts ranging from free play for seniors on Mondays to a 25% reduction on first year membership.  The clubhouse includes dining options by Café Louise and is available to rent for special occasions and events.

Bowl-o-Rama has been the place to go for 10-pin bowling since 1959.  Located on the Berlin Turnpike, Bowl-o-Rama offers 40 alleys, leagues, tournaments, pro shop, lounge/bar and party specials.

Newington Arena on Alumni Road is a two-rink skating center that is home to a number of hockey teams and leagues.  It also offers free skate, learn-to-skate, figure and freestyle skating while also being the training site for skaters who prepare to compete regionally, nationally and internationally.

While the Town provides excellent outdoor tennis courts in season, hard courts at the high school and both Har-Tru and red clay courts at Mill Pond Park, the private Newington Tennis Center offers six indoor tennis courts that are open year round.

Gamers from around the region flock to Your Friendly Neighborhood Table Top Shop on New Britain Avenue, Southern New England’s largest hobby and game store.  Featuring board and card role-playing games, this is the place to acquire games and accessories and to compete against others in open play sessions and tournaments.

Connecticut offers just about any type of activity one might enjoy close by.  From boating and swimming to skiing and hot air ballooning, the options are almost infinite.

Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands is a nationally televised FedEx Cup golf tournament featuring some of the world’s greatest players.

Connecticut Open Tennis Tournament  held at the Connecticut Tennis Center is a Women’s U.S. Open Series event.  This popular fan-friendly event draws players to New Haven just before the championships in New York City.

The Uconn Huskies Men’s and Women’s basketball teams are widely followed, both having won multiple national NCAA championships.  Many of their home games are played at the XL center in nearby downtown Hartford.

Professional baseball includes the Hartford Yard Goats, who play at Dunkin Donuts Park, one of the best venues in the country for AA minor league baseball.

Mohegan Sun Casino in Montville and Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard are world class resorts featuring gaming, hotels, restaurants, theaters and sports venues.
