Entering Grades 5 and up
This exciting summer program is designed for band students with a minimum of one-year playing experience, or by recommendation from your director, who want to further their skills in the band, small ensembles, and/or jazz band. The primary focus of this academy is to challenge middle school and young high school students to perform at a higher level through participation in large ensembles and through student-directed and director-coached sectionals, mini-lessons, and small ensembles.
The Summer Band Academy is intended to be an intensive two-week program. While students can sign up for one week, it is highly recommended that they register for both weeks to get the most out of the experience. The program runs from 9-12, Monday through Friday, ending with a performance for families and friends on the Friday of each week. Opportunities for students include; Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Mini-Lessons, Chamber Ensembles, Sectionals, Basic Music Theory/Fundamentals, Jazz Improvisation, and Regional Festival Solo/Scale Work.
