The Lucy-to-Go Curbside Service 

Our Lucy To Go service is easy.  Just a few things before we get started:

You must have a valid library card in good standing with total fees owed under $100.00.  If you don’t have a library card or don’t know your library card number, call the Circulation Desk at 860-665-8700 and we will be happy to assist you.

In order to provide this service to as many patrons as possible, arrangements must be scheduled with the library’s Information Desk or Children’s Desk for next day pickup.

At this time we are only able to circulate items owned by our library, due to the limited delivery service.

Loan periods are the same as always and will be based on the date that you arrange to pick up your items.

Pickup hours are limited to
Monday - Thursday
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Friday
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Staff cannot take any payment for fines owed at the curb.. Fines may be paid online from the library’s catalog in your account or if your fines are under $100.00 you can wait until the library building reopens and pay them at the Circulation Desk.

All Items that you are returning must be returned in the outdoor book drop.  The book drop is emptied every day, but items must go into quarantine for 3 days before we check them in.  We backdate all checkins, so if you return the items on time there will be no fine.

Selecting Materials to Pickup

You can choose items to checkout from the library’s online catalog. When you find an item you want to pickup, click on the Request It button, enter your library card number and PIN, be sure Lucy Robbins Welles Library is the pickup location and click on Submit.  When the items you have selected are available for you to checkout, you will receive an email notice or if we don’t have your email address you will get a notice in the mail. 

If you prefer, you can call the Adult Information Desk at 860-665-8700 or the Children’s Desk at 860-665-8720 to request specific items.  We will need your library card number.  If you don’t have a library account or don’t know your library card number, staff at the Circulation Desk will be happy to help you.  Over the phone there is a limit of 5 items per day (10 Children’s items) so we can provide this service to as many patrons as possible.  While you are on the phone you can arrange for next day curbside pickup of the materials.

Arrange Next Day Curbside Pickup

After you have been notified that your items are available, call the Library at 860-665-8700 to arrange to pick up your materials curbside the next day.  A staff member will ask for your library card number and the make and color of your car.


Next Day Pickup

When you arrive to pick up your materials, call the library at 860-665-8713 for assistance.  If you do not have a cellphone, call us before you leave home.  You must remain in your car (or if you are walking, please wait in the grassy area across the driveway). Library staff cannot leave the building if you are out of your car.  After we receive your phone call, a staff member will bring your items and your due date slip in a plastic bag out to the Curbside Pickup Table.  The bag will be labeled with the first four letters of your last name and last four digits of your library card number.  When the staff member returns to the building, you may retrieve your items.  Please verify that you are picking up your materials.
